The history of Loewe

The history of Loewe began in 1846 when Juan Loewe Latte opened his leather workshop in the main district of Lobo in Madrid, Spain. By 1872, Juan Loewe started collaborating with German craftsman Enrique Roessberg Loewe and other artisans, all the while maturing his own brand. In 1945, Loewe debuted with his calfskin leather bags and then continued to expand the Loewe lineup to female attire, perfumes, and other items. Loewe brand, reaching a turning point in 1996 with its 150th-year anniversary, was taken up by Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH), and with the help of newly recruited renowned designer Jonathan Anderson, LOEWE has seen much success with a transition back to quality craftsmanship. What was born in the streets of Madrid 170 years ago continues to this day with Loewe’s master craftsmanship.
