Beijing’s first high-definition video call via 5G network was made yesterday in the media center of the 2019 International Horticultural Exhibition, or Beijing Expo 2019, Beijing Daily reported on April 28. The video call, lasting 7 minutes, was made using a Huawei Mate 20 X, a foldable 5G smartphone, and was witnessed by domestic and foreign journalists. The projected video on a large-screen television features high definition and low delay. With high bandwidth and low latency, the 5G network will guarantee wireless 4K/8K live video streaming thus elevating media to a new level, noted Xiang Huangmei, vice president of China Telecom in Beijing, who dialed the first 5G video call. China Telecom in Beijing will continue to promote the application of 5G technology in more scenarios such as automated driving and distance medical care, Xiang said.
