Tens of millions of Indonesians were voting in presidential and legislative elections Wednesday after a campaign that pitted the moderate incumbent against an ultranationalist former general whose fear-based rhetoric warned the country would fall apart without his strongman leadership. On July 14, President-elect Jokowi and elected vice-president Ma’ruf Amin organized an Indonesian vision 2019-2024 speech at the Sentul City International Convention Center or abbreviated as SICC West Java. Amid supporters of around 15,000 people, President Jokowi struck the pulpit directly into the problems of the Indonesian people. President Jokowi, who has always had an out of the box mindset, this time emphasized that his speech immediately discussed the nation’s problems from work ethics to the proposed change in mindset. “We must realize that we now live in a very dynamic global environment! A global phenomenon that we know is full of changes, full of speed, full of risk, full of complexity, and full of surprises, which is often far from our calculations,” he said.

The president called for looking for a new model, new ways, new values in finding solutions to every problem with innovations. He needs an effective and efficient management model. In the next five years program, President Jokowi will continue to develop infrastructure to connect the city to village roads, inter-provincial roads and connecting people’s production areas. “We connect with small industrial areas, connect with Special Economic Zones, connect with tourism areas. We also have to connect large infrastructure with rice fields, plantation areas, and fishery ponds,” he said.

“To support infrastructure development, it is necessary to develop reliable and competitive human resources. HR development is Indonesia’s key in the future. The starting point for HR development is to ensure the health of pregnant women, infant health, toddler health, the health of school-age children. This is the golden age to bring superior Indonesian people in the future. It must be properly guarded. Do not let stunting, maternal death, or infant mortality increase. “We will also improve the quality of education. You can be sure of the importance of vocational training, the importance of vocational school. We will also build an Indonesian Talent Management institution. The government will identify, facilitate, and provide educational support and self-development for Indonesian talents.”

The president will also call for investments as wide as possible in order to open employment opportunities. No one is allergic to investment. In this way, employment will open as much as possible. Therefore, anything that hinders investment must be trimmed and slow and convoluted licenses will be cut. The president will also reform the bureaucracy so that government institutions will get simpler and more flexible. According to the president, the speed of service and of giving permission are the keys to bureaucratic reform.

Another thing President Jokowi highlighted was that the use of the State Budget Revenue Expenditures must be focused and on target. He emphasized that all must make sure that every rupiah that comes out has economic benefits, provides benefits for the people and increases welfare for the community. President Jokowi emphasized that the Indonesian nation must be optimistic about the future. The key to advancing Indonesia is that everyone must return to the ideology of the state, namely Pancasila. “With our unity and brotherhood, we must continue to strengthen! Only by being united, we will become a strong and respected country in the world! The ideology of Pancasila is the only national ideology that every citizen must be part of,” he said.

The president invited all nations to unite so that Indonesia would progress. “This is not about me, or you. Nor is it about us, or them. Not West or East. Also, not South or North. Now is not the time to think about it all. But it’s time to think about our nation together. Never hesitate to move forward because we can if we are united.”
