Lightning kills 29 people in Thar Desert of Pakistan

Karachi: At least 29 people including men and women died and dozens of animals including cows, goats and camels perished due to lightning during the torrential rains which started late last night in Tharparkar, the desert district of Sindh province of Pakistan, according to police, hospital sources and local people.

The heavy rains continued to lash Thar Desert, bordering India on Thursday destroying the crops sown after the monsoon rains.

According to data collected here eight women and seven men died while seven others sustained burn injuries. The animals perished include 58 goats, 8 cows, 4 camels and 4 donkeys. Names of other deceased persons could not be ascertained.

The lightning strike was reported from about a dozen different villages of Thar Desert during last twenty four hours.

The death toll is feared to increase as according to certain unconfirmed reports seven people lost their lives in Thar’s Chhachhro area, while another four people were killed and two children sustained critical burns in Sanghar, a city in Sanghar district, and a youth in Kandhkot town was also pronounced dead. рефинансирование онлайн без визита в банк
