SINGAPORE ART FAIR SET TO KICK OFF THIS WEEK

Salsali Private Museum (UAE), XVA Gallery (UAE), Ward Gallery (Dubai, Cairo, & KSA) and Lahd Gallery (UK & USA) participate from the GCC region

For its first edition, SINGAPORE ART FAIR presents the best of ME.NA.SA. artistic creations and confirms the participation of 59 top-leading galleries featuring more than 230 artists.

This new ground for encounters and discoveries will take place from November 27 till November 30, 2014 at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Center, a venue which symbolizes Singapore’s cultural and economic vigor.

The fair features the best of ME.NA.SA artistic creations and counts with the participation of the most active and innovative galleries which reflect their consistent approach through a high-quality selection. SINGAPORE ART FAIR also gives them the opportunity to showcase large-scale projects and present exhibitions specially designed for the fair.

Pointing out that « SINGAPORE ART FAIR is the first and only contemporary art fair in Asia dedicated to ME.NA.SA creations », Laure d’Hauteville, BEIRUT ART FAIR’s and SINGAPORE ART FAIR’s founder, explains that «the Lebanese artistic scene and, in a broader sense, that of the ME.NA.SA region, present a historical legitimacy which allows them to expand and develop in Asia. In addition, the art market evolution clearly indicates an interest from Asiancollectors towards the art of the Arab world. SINGAPORE ART FAIR has all ittakes to become a springboard for the Lebanese and Middle-Eastern artists and galleries ».

59 galleries exhibiting more than 230 artists (renowned or emerging talents of the art market) will participate in the fair. Among these artists, we can point out: Hicham Benohoud (Morocco), Chua Boon Kee (Singapore), Ali Cherri (Lebanon), Wang Keping (China), Atef Maatallah (Tunisia), Ahmed Mater (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kanako Ohya (Japan), Gwon Osang (Korea), Angki Purbandono (Indonesia), Kazuo Shiraga (Japan), Hanibal Srouji (Lebanon), Lee Ufan (Korea), Zhu Wei (China), Mayuka Yamamoto (Japan), and Hong Zhu An (China).

Alongside the various galleries and artistscoming from the Middle-East, North Africa, and South and Southeast Asia whowill make Singapore vibrate in the rhythm of art, several pavilions and thematic exhibitions will also reassert the fair’s unique positioning.
