Remembering history for a better future

The development of transportation systems has accomplished so much more today than in the past half century. The Internet has developed to such fast speeds, giving us a highway of information about other cultures and different peoples. Counterevidence to this development, however, is the proliferation of IS and terrorism, which has affected everyone worldwide.

Why does this repeatedly occur? Scholars identify that the development of transportation was the engine for cultural clashes, but the author would like to think otherwise; All that is happening now is a cycle that comes from the past.

In the start of 1990s, war between the European frontier Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the Chechen war in Russia did not provide any caution to the world, even with the fact that genocide had been carried out before in those areas of the world.

In the end, the lack of tolerance and affection has created the monster that is IS. The author hopes that the curiosity that has even attracted the interest of a Korean teenager named Kim will be enough evidence for us to give attention to this world issue .

May we not forget the fact that our world has seen genocides in its history. By Tony Lee Travel Reporter | Summary by Rigoberto Banta Jr.
