Georgia and Japan to implement common project

The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment to Georgia Red Cross Primary Health Clinic in Dedoplistskaro (Georgia), which was implemented within the framework of “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects” of the Government of Japan. The Opening Ceremony was held in the town of Dedoplistskaro (Georgia) on 8 July 2016.

According to official press-release spread for journalists, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, Mr. Toshio Kaitani, attended the ceremony along with the representatives of local authorities and members of related organizations.

«The grant amount for the project is 90,992 USD. The Grant Contract for this project was concluded on January 28, 2015, between the Embassy of Japan and Georgia Red Cross Society. The project supplied modern medical equipment to the primary health clinic in Dedoplistskaro that will provide quality medical services to the whole population of the municipality, including a mobile clinic component that will bring primary medical services to every village of the municipality»,- announced in the release.

To note, the “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects” (GGP) provides assistance to relatively small projects implemented by NGOs and aims at improving the living standards of Georgian people. It applies to projects in the field of public health, education, social protection, environment and poverty reduction.

Since 1998, the Government of Japan, totaling 15,087,936 USD, has financed one hundred fifty-one GGP projects in Georgia.
