A fish trader was killed and a trucker injured when robbers took away their fish-laden pickup-van throwing them from a running truck in the capital’s Mohakhali area early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Hafizur while the injured as Yusuf.

Bhuiyan Mahbub Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banani Police Station, quoting trucker Yusuf told The Daily Star that the robbers waylaid them keeping a truck across the road near Rawa Club in Mohakhali area around 4:00am.

They were on way to Abdullahpur in Uttara after loading the pickup-van with 32-carton of fish from Karwan Bazar of the city.

When Yusuf was forced to stop his pickup-van, the robbers tied them with rope and put them into the truck, the Banani OC said.

Later, some members of the gang went away with the pickup-van and another gang beat Hafizur and Yusuf severely and threw Hafizur there, the OC went on saying that the robbers threw away Yusuf in Uttara.
