More Korean farmers are turning to online shopping

According to online retailer auction, sales of agricultural equipment rose about 200 percent last year from 2013.

“More young people have returned to farming, and they tend to buy machinery online,” a company spokesman said.

The company’s sales surged 378 percent last month from the same period last year.

Sales to people in their 50s made up the largest portion, 40 percent, followed by those in their 40s (37 percent), 20s and 30s (23 percent). Customers in their 60s accounted for 16 percent.

Sales at online retailer Gmarket soared 435 percent last month from the same period last year.
