The Third World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan hosted the Third World Nomad Games in the country’s resort town of Cholpon-Ata on September 2-8, 2018. More than 1.5 thousand athletes from 66 countries of the world took part in it, competing in 37 kinds of ethno-sports. The presidents of Kazakhstan, Turkey, Tatarstan (Russia) and the Prime Minister of Hungary, other high-ranking guests from many countries of the world took part in the opening of the games. The aim of the Third World Nomad Games is the revival and preservation of the culture of a nomadic civilization. More than 500 foreign media representatives from 58 countries of the world arrived in Kyrgyzstan to cover the Third World Nomad Games. I included the World Nomad Games as it’s a large scale international project initiated by the Kyrgyz Government.

Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States

The 6th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (CCTS) is held in Kyrgyzstan on September 3-4, 2018. The CCTS, also known as the Turkic Council is an international organization, which unites contemporary Turkic-speaking states: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Its main goal is to develop comprehensive cooperation between its member-states. Presidents of four Turkic-speaking countries discussed the opportunities for interacting within the Council and shared views on regional, culture–humanitarian and trade-economic cooperation of Turkic-speaking states. One of the key topics was the discussion of cooperation in the area of national sports and youth. The presidency in CCTS moved from от the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic. I included the Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, because the summit is important for Kyrgyzstan. In 2016, the summit was supposed to be held in Kyrgyzstan, but the meeting was held only in 2018 after three years. The first summit was held in 2011 in Kazakhstan. The following meetings were held in Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and in 2015, again in Kazakhstan.

Meeting of President and former prime ministers and speakers of Kyrgyzstan on one platform

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a meeting with former prime ministers and speakers of the country to discuss development of the country on one platform. For the time in the history of the independent Kyrgyzstan, when the political elite, the former leaders of the country gathered on one platform. During the meeting, the political situation in the country, judicial and constitutional reforms, changes in the electoral system and major economic projects were discussed. Almost all former high-ranking officials of the country took part in it, except for those who for various reasons left the republic or are in detention. Two former presidents of Kyrgyzstan were ousted from the country, two former prime ministers and one speaker of the parliament are in jail. I included this meeting, because this is the first such kind of important meeting in the history of Kyrgyzstan during its 26 years of independence.
