South Korea and India held a seminar to discuss ways to strengthen defense industry cooperation and help Korean firms expand into the South Asian country, the arms procurement agency here said Wednesday. The one-day seminar was held in the Indian capital of New Delhi as part of measures to follow up on the February summit between President Moon Jae-in and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at which they vowed to boost military and defense industry ties.

Around 170 government and industry officials from both sides attended the event, which also involved 12 Korean companies, including Hanwha Defense and Korea Aerospace Industries, according to the agency. LIG Nex1 Co., in particular, clinched a memorandum of understanding with India’s Adani Group on the production and marketing of Seoul’s K-30 Biho anti-aircraft system, it added. “The seminar served as a venue for the two countries to further boost mutually beneficial cooperation in the defense industry field,” Defense Acquisition Program Administration chief Wang Jung-hong said.
