Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan’s diplomats and state institutions have been tasked with strengthening the country’s environmental diplomacy, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov has said.

Attending a forum to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeenbekov stressed full commitment by all to preserving and developing the status of Kyrgyzstan as an environmentally friendly country and turning it into a national brand.

Jeenbekov stressed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Ratification of the Paris Agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), signed on Dec.12, 2015 in Paris”.

He elaborated on the actions by Kyrgyzstan in the field of environmental protection, prevention of environmental crises, and the country’s contribution to the prevention of global environmental threats, Kabar news agency reported.

The president said the history of Kyrgyz diplomacy is deep rooted and reiterated that the Kyrgyz Republic aims to pursue a multi-faceted, balanced and pragmatic foreign policy.
