Worsening Traffic Jam In Hanoi

In this photo taken Monday, May 21, 2012, motorcyclists drive in rush hour on La Thanh street which is one of the worst traffic jam roads, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The project of expanding the street is delayed for years due to the disagreement of compensation rates that the government offered to the residents. Experts and officials say inadequate roading and public transport in Hanoi and other Vietnamese cities blocks the social and economic progress of the country where widespread poverty persists despite fast growth in recent years. As construction of Hanoi’s inner ring road remains stalled, its traffic will almost certainly worsen in the coming decade. <AP/NEWSis>
