Density of radioactive remains alarming in Fukushima

The density of radioactivity in Fukushima where nuclear reactor was exploded in March last year, was higher by 37 times than the level in Seoul, it was learned Wednesday (May 30).

The alarming fact was revealed by Hwang Sang-kyu, head of a private company, who is now taking part in a meeting of the Internaional Organization for Standardization (ISO) being held in Fukushima.

Hwang said in his facebook that he measured the density level by himself Wednesday morning (May 30) at the flowerbed of the Fukushima station, center of the city, to find that the level was as high as 6.36 μSv( micro mili siverts). But, the level of density, checked at the same time Wednesday in Kwnagnaru, eastern Seoul, stood at 0.17 μSv, showing 37 times of disparty between the two regions.

Another freightening fact, he said, was that the level in central Fukushima was higher by as much as 60 times when compared to the usual level of Seoul and Tokyo standing at 0.10 to 0.20 μSv.

The current level of density in central Fukushima where a lot of people are passing by, was twice as high as the standard level considered safe and the city authority is asked to take a relevant measure for the safety of people, Hwang said.

원전이 폭발한 일본 후쿠시마의 방사능 농도 측정 결과 한국의 서울 근교보다 37배 높은 것으로 나타났다.

국제표준화기구의 사회책임기준 ISO26000의 제정위원에 한국대표로 참여한 SRKorea 황상규 대표는 30일 오전 9시30분 “일본 후쿠시마 역 근처에서 방사능 측정기로 방사능 농도를 측정한 결과 6.36 마이크로 시버트(μSv)로 측정됐다”면서 이 같이 밝혔다.

같은 시각 아시아엔이 한국의 서울 광장동 지하철 5호선 광나루역 바로 옆 출구에서 측정한 방사능 수치는 0.17 μSv로, 후쿠시마 역에서 측정한 값의 37분의 1에 불과했다.

황 대표는 “보통 서울이나 동경이 0.10~0.20 μSv인데 그것보다 최고 60배인 고농도 방사능 지점(Hot Spot)을 후쿠시마역 근처 화단 옆에서 확인한 것”이라고 설명했다.

그는 “뉴스로만 접해봤던 방사능 오염 지대의 땅에 와서 전문가용 방사능 측정기기로 직접 근접 측정해 본 결과 아직도 안전기준치를 크게 웃도는 방사능 수치가 측정돼 놀랍고 두렵다”며 “시민들이 다니는 길 옆이므로 즉각적인 조치가 필요하다”고 말했다.
