MANILA, Philippines–Heavy rains brought by typhoon Gener has claimed 12 lives, most of them due to drowning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday.

Four more fatalities were identified as: Mariel Manzo from San Agustin, Romblon who died after sustaining head injuries from a falling tree; Edna Ibanes, from Cajidiocan, Romblon who died after being hit by a tree; Prisca Pacyaya from Ampucao, Ilogin and Clinton Idio from Tublay, Benguet, who both died from landslide.

One Angelito Bicoy from Quezon was declared missing.

Those rescued were placed at 129.

At least 300,000 have been affected by rains spawned by the typhoon, the NDRRMC said.

Latest NDRRMC figures showed that 63,670 families or 303,941 persons were affected in Ilocos region, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabrzon, Mimaropa, Western and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao,Soccskargen, Cordillera Administrative Region and National Capital Region.

Meanwhile, displaced families inside and outside evacuation centers are at 31,135 or 154,211 persons, according to NDRRMC.

A total of 28 roads and two bridges in Cagayan, Ilocos, Central Luzon, Western Visayas,Northern Mindanao, CAR and NCR were closed because of the typhoon.

Estimated cost of damages in Cagayan, Calabarzon and Western Visayas is estimated at P2million, the NDRRMC said.

Meanwhile, cost of assistance by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, local government units and non- government organizations in NCR, Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, CAR is about P2.5million, the NDRRMC said.

The DSWD Central Office also prepositioned P4.77million of standby funds, and P39.04million worth of relief supplies in affected areas.

Declared under state of calamity were Mabitac, Laguna; Bacoor, Tanza and Ternate in Cavite.

There arre 1,658 damaged houses, 658 of which were completely damaged.
