Middle Eastern and Arabs have become known to have their own characteristics and traits. Whether these characteristics were bad or good, Arab people have a set of characteristics that distinguish them, some they want to change and others they want to acquire.

In 6th December episode of KBS’ World Radio Arabic show “Listeners’ Letters”, the host Youssry Sawaby, tackles this issue with the guidance of numerous comment from viewers from around the Middle East. Arabs are known to be tolerant, open to new experiences and kind, and even though each Middle Eastern country is different in a way, people agreed that they share these characteristics.

The viewers of the show mostly described the distinguishable characteristics of the Arabs as the traits of the Prophet Muhammad, who was described in his childhood as the “Truthful and honest one.” He was known to help those who were in need, with his virtues he would also forgive those who hurt him, Lena from Algeria and Ameera from Saudi Arabia noted these characteristics as one they’d like to acquire and ones they think all Arabs should have.

Emad from Morocco noted that Arabs are known to follow their consciousness in all issues that arise, leading them to the right path. On the other hand, a lot of people noted that Arabs’ characteristics are usually connected to their faith and their relationship with god. Sirine from Tunisia said, that her faith in god and knowing that everything is planned ahead makes her more confident, same as others who share the same mentality.

Others like Toqa and Amal from Egypt said that hanging to their faith is what defines them the most in their country, their characteristics and traits are slowly shaped by faith and religion, as they start to change according to anything new they learn about their religion, Islam.

It can be noted that despite a lot of people saying that they have a number of bad qualities they’d like to change about themselves, they noted that they’d like to stay the same, since that’s how god created them with their god and bad sides. In Middle East and especially in Arab countries, you’d see religion integrated in different parts of people’s daily lives, even in their characteristics and the traits they pass on to their children afterwards.
