Asia Journalist Association (AJA) publishes a monthly journal in South Korea as “MagazineN” in addition to the existing on-line media, THE AsiaN (http://www.theasian.asia/) serving in English, Arabic and Korean.

Job Description:

Asia Journalist Association is seeking undergraduates, recent graduates or graduate students to intern with its newsroom team based in Seoul. The news interns are needed for the monthly magazine and the website.

-Managing social media accounts,

-Writing article and making interviews,

-Reporting news from the native country of the applicant (online internship only)

This is a 12-week, unpaid full-time, part-time and online internship based in Seoul. The winter internships generally take place over January, February, March though start dates can be flexible in certain circumstances. (Online internship’s period is also subject to be fixed)

Eligibility:

English or Korean fluency,

Sharp instincts for news and news values

Strong interest in domestic and international news

Strong interest in photojournalism and photography

Strong communication & organizational skills

A basic understanding of MS programs and Photoshop

Social media savvy, especially Facebook and Twitter

AJA interns should be self-starters who understand the needs of the website and magazine’s growing readership on various real-time, online, mobile and print platforms. Dedication to journalism standards is a must. The screening process puts heavy emphasis on work samples and experience. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in news and photography as well as the ability to work independently and under deadline pressure.
