S. Korea: income of farming, fishing households up in 2018

The average annual income of South Korea’s farming and fishing households rose in 2018 from a year earlier, data showed Friday. The income of farming households reached an average of 42 million won (US$36,000) last year, up 10 percent from the previous year, according to the report by Statistics Korea. The average income of households engaged in fishing or fish farming climbed 5.8 percent on-year to 51.8 million won in 2018. On average, each farming household spent 33.8 million won in 2018, up 10.4 percent from the previous year, and the average spending of fishing households rose 7.8 percent to 31.3 million won. The amount of debt for farming households rose 26.1 percent on-year to an average of 33.2 million won, while their assets fell 2 percent on average to 495 million won.
