Kyrgyzstan to set up state entity for personal data protection

Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan is planning to set up early next year a state entity for the protection of personal data.

Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev wants the entity to be formed by February 1, 2020

At the meeting at the Digital Command Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Abylgaziev stressed that the protection of rights and freedoms of citizens and the safeguard of their personal data are among the main duties of the state.

“There is need to ensure full protection of personal data of citizens from illegal actions. There should be no facts of distribution, transfer of personal data without the permission of the citizen. I set the task to form a state entity for the protection of personal data by Feb.1, 2020,” the prime minister said, quoted by AKBAR news agency.

Abylgaziev also highlighted that the preparations for the implementation of the main stage of the Safe City project, which will cover seven regions, two cities of national importance, 15 cities of regional and regional importance, and 73 settlements were under way.
