AJA-JTO sign MOU to promote tourism in Jeju Island

The Asia Journalist Association (AJA), represented by Ivan Lim, and the Jeju Tourism Organization (JTO), headed by Yang Yong-kun, signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) in a ceremony at Jeju Welcome Center Thursday (June 28) to promote tourism in the resort island in connection with its selection as one of the New 7  Wonders of Nature last year.

In the ceremony, Lim and Yang also agreed to push ahead various projects that would help inform the world people of the beauty and charm of the island in the days to come.

Lim said “AJA will do its best to help Jeju Island develop as one of the representative tourist destinations in Asia.” Three  other Asian tourist attractions were also handpicked as 7 Wonders. They are Komodo Island in Indonesia, Ha Long Bay in Vietnam and Puerto Prinicesa Subterranean River in the Philippines.

Yang of JTO said “we are determined to make effort to expand publicity activities to Asian countries and other parts of the world to inform them the beauty of Jeju Island.” He further expected that “the selection of Jeju as one of the 7 Wonders will serve as an effective instrument to attract tourists from all around the world.”

Lee Sang-ki, founding president of AJA and president-publisher of The AsiaN, also attended the signing ceremony.
