Tripartite Dispute Flares Up Over Extradition Of Azerbaijani Soldier

BUDAPEST — Hungarians protest against the government’s extradition of Ramil Safarov, an Azerbaijani soldier convicted of murdering Armenian soldier Gurgen Margaryan in 2004, in front of the Hungarian Parliament in Budapest on Sept. 4, 2012.

Safarov was given a life sentence by a Hungarian court in 2006. Upon his return to Baku after Hungary’s extradition of him to Azerbaijan on Aug. 31, Safarov was immediately released and given a presidential pardon. Armenia, on the same day, severed diplomatic relations and all official ties with Hungary. <Xinhua=Attila Volgyi>
