On July 7th, 2013, with the support of our partners and the enthusiasm of Indonesian scholars, the Indonesian Students Association in Korea (PERPIKA) successfully held CISAK 2013 at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), located in the city of Daejon.

The day before the conference, the CISAK 2013 committee welcomed Indonesian students and practitioners from Indonesia and Taiwan. Along with the Indonesian students attending Korean universities, the CISAK 2013 participants had the opportunity to enjoy the charm of the city through a visit of the National Science Museum of Daejon, the Research Center and the beautiful Ppuri Park.

As one of PERPIKA’s biggest annual event, CISAK has always been the most anticipated event for Indonesian students studying in Korea, as it is the opportunity for them to broaden their network through the sharing of their knowledge and passion for the scientific field. On the day of the conference, shuttle buses organized by CISAK Committee, arrived at the venue bringing additional Indonesian students and practitioners from southern and northern parts of Korea. In the morning, a total of more than a hundred and seventy participants had crowded the conference hall. Special guests from the Embassy of Republic of Indonesia in Korea, Daedeok Innopolis Venture Association, ICISTS, KISSA, Donga News Paper and HelloDD also attended CISAK 2013.

The members of the committee and the participants gathered together; spurring the reunion of old friends as well as the creation of new friendships, and thus lightening up the atmosphere of the room.

Applauses and cheering filled the venue when Vina Sari Yosephine, Chair of the CISAK 2013 Committee, officially opened the conference. The charming and poetic “Plate Dance”, literally translated from the Indonesian “Tari Piring”, succeeded in adding magic to the opening ceremony.

The session was followed by presentations of some of Indonesia’s brightest scholars currently completing their postgraduate studies in Korean universities. Later,  CISAK 2013 keynote speakers, Mr. Ilham Habibie – Indonesian scientist and founder of PT. Regio Aviation Industries – and Mr. Ridwan Kamil, an Indonesian well-known Architect and Mayor of Bandung city, graced the audience with an inspiring seminar.
