Russian PM to meet Kyrgyz leaders in Bishkek

MedvedevRussian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in Bishkek for an official visit for talks with Kyrgyz leadership and to take part in a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) meeting.

“Kyrgyzstan and Russia have not many topics, requiring a rapid response,” the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with the head of the Kyrgyz government Sooronbay Jeenbekov, 24.kg reports.

According to the report, he said “The work on the adaptation of the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic to the norms of the EEU is important. This opens up new possibilities for national manufacturers. Russia will actively assist them. We stand for the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, cooperation in the field of education. I note that the instructions that we will give to the executive authorities on the results of the negotiations will give an additional impetus to the work in a bilateral way, and in the EEU format. I am sure that the results of the meeting will contribute to further strengthening of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation.”

The Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a regional organization created after the collapse of Soviet Union. It includes cooperation on economy, investment, energy, and culture.
