Rural Pakistanis Living In Worsening Poverty

In Pakistan approximately two-thirds of the people live in rural areas and rural poverty is a major destabilizing factor. Authoritative studies have documented rising poverty levels in the country. Rural poverty was estimated at 27 percent in 2005-06 in Pakistan. According to another study, in southern Sindh province, 38 percent of the rural population lives under the poverty line comparing with an urban incidence of 13.1 percent. This photograph shows how the poor live in rural areas of Sindh.
