[Indonesia Report] Police detains 9 Al Qaeda Indonesia terrorist suspects

Indonesian police named 9 terror suspects declared themselves as group of Al Qaeda Indonesia, according to report by Kompas.com.

They are now being detained in Indonesian Mobile Brigade Corps Headquarter, Kelapa Dua, Depok in West Java Province.

The 9 suspects were arrested on the anti-terror raids last week held by Indonesian Counter-terrorism Squad, Detachment 88, in several places in Solo, Poso and Kalimantan Province.

“After a depth investigation, there are 9 suspects met the criteria to be detained….. and to be process for further investigation,” said Boy Rafli Amar, Head PR of Indonesia Police on Saturday, September 9.

One of the suspects, identified as Badri Hartono (45), is the leader of Al Qaeda Indonesia.

Badri is linked to Urwah, terrorist who was killed in a police raid in 2009. Urwah also was previously sentenced for 3 year imprisonment for concealing Malaysian terrorist, Noordin M Top.

Badri is an expert on assembling bombs and was trained in Poso, Central Sulawesi.
From a series of raid and detention in Jakarta, Depok and Solo, police seized evidences of guns, a dozen of detonators, urea fertilizer, sulfur, liquid nitroglycerin bombs, four active pipe bomb, black powder and other explosives.

The target of this group is allegedly not only police but also public area and civilians.
